The Computer Repair Industry: What Has Changed?
The computer repair industry has evolved dramatically since its inception. In 1960, the total shipments of new equipment amounted to less than 2,000 and $600 million sales in the U.S. By 2003, over 15 million units were shipped with revenue exceeding $88 billion.
Over the years the market quickly became flooded, which opened the doors for a lot of novice computer technicians to jump on the bandwagon and call themselves "gurus" almost overnight. This led to an acute distrust of anyone calling themselves "professionals" in this industry.
